Presenting an exquisite opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts with an affinity for Triumph Classic Cars - this is an impeccably maintained GT6 boasting a distinguished history as a single-owner vehicle from its inception.

According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, VJW 117M stands as an authentic right-hand-drive (RHD) UK domestic market car, dispatched on the 17th June, 1973, through Hewitts Garages Limited in Wolverhampton.
The certificate further affirms that VJW 117M left the factory with its original specifications featuring French Blue exterior paint, Black interior trim, Overdrive, and a Sundym laminated windscreen - a configuration meticulously preserved to this day.

Noteworthy is the condition of this GT6, considering its status as a one-owner vehicle from its initial purchase. The meticulous care bestowed upon it is evident in the restoration conducted by the previous owner during 2014 to 2017, incurring a total expenditure of £14,460.52.

Accompanying the car are the original sales brochures from 1972 and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate.

VJW 117M presents nicely with French Blue exterior, complemented by a tasteful black interior trim. The manual gearbox, featuring the coveted overdrive, complements the overall appeal of the vehicle.
The transmission, straight-six engine, coupe bodywork, paintwork, and upholstery showcase an impressive state of preservation, with the mileage currently standing at a 68,494 miles.

The Triumph GT6 was effectively a GT version of Triumph’s Michelotti-designed Spitfire and would have started life with the same engine (and been called GT4) had the performance of the prototype not proved inadequate due to the additional weight of the GT shell. The newcomer was therefore blessed with the more powerful 1,998 cc straight-six engine from the Vitesse. The unloved swing axle rear end was suitably revised for the GT6 MKII of 1969. Further upgrades for the model’s final iteration, the MKIII introduced in 1970, resulted in a thoroughly sorted car, whose performance would comfortably outpace that of its main rival – the MGB. With 98bhp on tap, the GT6 could sprint to 60mph sprint in 10 seconds and on to a top speed of 110mph. The OHV engine was mated to a four-speed manual gearbox; suspension was by wishbones and coil springs at the front and, ultimately, by transverse leaf spring, lower wishbones and radius arms at the rear; braking was by discs/drums; and the steering by rack and pinion. Some 40,926 GT6s were made all told.

For purists, the sale includes the original factory-fitted steering wheel, rocker cover, ignition coil, as well as the original sales brochures, British Motor Museum Heritage Certificate, and factory build specification sheet.
